Howard College offers two paramedic pathways: a Level I Certificate and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Emergency Medical Services. The program is accredited by CoAEMSP and CAAHEP and prepares students to deliver advanced prehospital emergency care. Training includes classroom instruction, lab practice, ambulance experience, and hospital rotations, with a focus on emergency department exposure.
Note: A criminal background clearance is required before acceptance into this program and a 10 panel drug screening is required prior to clinicals.

Health Insurance
Students enrolled in the Emergency Medical Services program are required to purchase health insurance prior to the beginning of their clinical experiences and to maintain the insurance for the duration of their enrollment.
Prerequisites
Prerequisite: Current Texas EMT Certification or current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians - (NREMT) certification and college credit hours for EMT.
