Integration of critical reading and academic writing skills. Development of reading and higher order thinking skills necessary for college readiness. Development of college-level writing focusing on idea generation, drafting, organization, revision, and utilization of standard English. This course may be offered in different formats: computer-based classroom, lecture, hybrid/blended, or online. Includes a one-hour weekly independent lab. A grade of “C” or better must be achieved to advance to the corequisite ENCS class. This course does not transfer or apply toward graduation.

Prerequisite: By placement
