WLDG 1323 - Welding Safety, Tools and Equipment

3 semester hours
2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab

An introduction to welding equipment and safety practice, including welding safety; OSHA and the Hazardous Communication Act; Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS); basic mathematics; measuring systems; shop operations; use and care of precision measuring tools; and the use and care of hand and power tools. Instruction on various types of welding equipment and processes, basic welding gases, fluxes, rods, electrodes, symbols and blueprints.
